βœ… Educational Qualifications & Eligibility (Full Details)

 

Eligibility depends on the branch you apply for (Flying / Ground Duty — Technical / Non-Technical). 

 

Branch / Category Educational Qualification / Criteria*

 

Flying Branch 10+2 (Class 12) with Physics & Mathematics (both) + Graduation (or 4-year degree) in any discipline / Engineering / Technology from a recognized university. Alternatively, clearing Section A & B exams of the Aeronautical Society of India (or equivalent) with ≥ 60%. 

Ground Duty — Technical (e.g. AE (Electronics), AE (Mechanical)) 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics + Four-year Engineering / Technology degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university. Or cleared relevant Society (Aeronautical / Engineering) exams with ≥ 60%. 

Ground Duty — Non-Technical Depends on sub-branch: <br> • Weapon Systems (WS): 10+2 (with Maths & Physics) + 3-year Graduation (any discipline) with ≥ 60% OR 4-yr Engineering/Tech degree.  <br> • Administration / Logistics: Graduation in any discipline (or cleared Section A & B of eligible Societies) with ≥ 60%.  <br> • Accounts: Commerce degree (B.Com) or related (BBA-Finance), or professional qualification (CA / CMA / CS / CFA) with required marks.  <br> • Education: Graduation + Post-Graduation / qualifying exam (depending on post), with required marks as specified. 

General Indian citizen. Age and physical/medical criteria also apply (as per IAF norms) — ensure to check full notification for age limits, medical standards, category-wise relaxations.

πŸ”Ž Mode of Selection (Selection Process — Step by Step)

The selection for AFCAT 01/2026 proceeds in multiple stages. 

1. Written Online Test (AFCAT)

For Technical candidates: Written AFCAT + Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) for technical branches. 

For Non-Technical / Flying / Ground Duty (Non Tech) — just AFCAT online test. 

 

2. Interview / Selection Board (Air Force Selection Board – AFSB)

Candidates who clear written test are called for AFSB interview. 

For Flying branch: additional tests (if relevant) such as pilot aptitude (for flying roles) may apply. 

 

3. Medical Examination — All selected after AFSB must pass IAF medical standards to be eligible for final selection. 


4. Final Merit & Selection — Based on performance in written + AFSB + medical + eligibility (education, age, physical) as per IAF criteria.

1. Visit the official AFCAT portal: afcat.cdac.in or afcat.edcil.co.in. 


2. Click on “AFCAT 01/2026 – Apply Online” link (visible when notification is active). 


3. Registration: For new users — register by entering basic details (name, mobile number, email). Submit OTP if required. 


4. After registration, log in using credentials (ID & password). 


5. Fill out the application form with required details: personal info, date of birth, address, educational qualifications, branch preference (Flying / Ground Duty Tech / Non-Tech), exam city, etc. 


6. Upload required documents — passport-size photo, signature, thumb impression (if needed), educational certificates / mark sheets, as per instructions (file format, size, dimension). 


7. Pay application fee (where applicable) — for AFCAT 01/2026, fee is β‚Ή550 (GST included) for general category.
