๐Ÿ“ The Complete Mode of Selection Process

Detailed Mode of Selection

Here’s how candidates are selected via JEE(Main) 2026 Session 1.

The exam is conducted in two sessions per year (Session 1 in January, Session 2 in April) by the NTA.

On the basis of the performance in the exam (marks/percentile), candidates are assigned a “NTA score” and percentile, which institutes subsequently use for admissions.

For admission to institutes like NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, performance in JEE(Main) + fulfilling eligible criteria (class 12 % / subject combination) is needed.

For Paper 2A/B (B.Arch/B.Planning) similar selection happens; the appropriate paper must be attempted.

The rank/percentile obtained in JEE(Main) is used for counselling/admission.

All candidates must meet eligibility criteria (qualifying exam, subjects, % where applicable) to be considered for admission, even if they appear in the exam.
