๐Ÿ“ The Complete Mode of Selection Process

Detailed Mode of Selection

The selection for the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division) in Rajasthan under RHC is typically conducted in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview / Viva-Voce.

(i) Preliminary Examination

This is an objective type (MCQ) paper.

Marks and duration: For example, in past scheme the Preliminary was for 100 marks, duration 2 hours, 100 questions.

Weightage: 70 % of questions from Law Papers I & II syllabus, 30 % from Hindi/English proficiency.

Negative marking: None (in past scheme).

Qualifying criterion: For SC/ST categories, minimum 40 % marks; for all other categories, minimum 45 % marks to go to mains.

Only candidates up to a certain ratio (for example, 15 times the total vacancies category-wise) based on the cut-off are called for Main Exam.

(ii) Main Examination (Written – Descriptive)

Two Law papers + two language papers (Hindi & English) are included.

Typical pattern: Law Paper-I (100 marks), Law Paper-II (100 marks), Hindi Essay (50 marks), English Essay (50 marks). Duration: Law papers 3 hours each; language papers 2 hours each.

The law papers test knowledge of civil law & procedure, criminal law & procedure, drafting, judgment writing etc.

Qualifying norms: For “Other” categories: at least 35 % marks in each law paper + 40 % aggregate; for SC/ST: at least 30 % in each law paper + 35 % aggregate.

(iii) Interview / Viva-Voce

Marks allotted (e.g., 35 marks) for Viva-Voce.

Assessment criteria: Candidate’s school/college record, character, personality, knowledge of current affairs, legal knowledge, proficiency in Rajasthani dialects/social customs (for Rajasthan Cadre) etc.

Final merit list: Based on aggregate of Main written + Interview marks. Preliminary marks typically not counted in final merit.

Summary Table
