📖 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications (Eligibility Criteria)

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, a candidate must meet all the following criteria:

  1. Performance in JEE Main 2025:

    • Candidate must be among the top 2,50,000 (including all categories) in JEE Main 2025 B.E./B.Tech. Paper.

    • Specific percentage for each category:

      • GEN-EWS – 10%

      • OBC-NCL – 27%

      • SC – 15%

      • ST – 7.5%

      • OPEN – 40.5% (including PwD in each)

  2. Age Limit:

    • Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000.

    • SC, ST, and PwD candidates are given a 5-year relaxation (i.e., born on or after October 1, 1995).

  3. Number of Attempts:

    • A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

  4. Year of Passing Qualifying Exam:

    • Candidate must have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2024 or 2025.

  5. Earlier Admission to IITs:

    • Candidates must not have been admitted to any IIT previously.

    • Even if admission was cancelled later, they are not eligible.

The selection for admission through JEE Advanced consists of the following stages:

Stage Description
Stage 1 Qualify JEE Main 2025 and be among top 2.5 lakh candidates.
Stage 2 Register for JEE Advanced 2025 Online.
Stage 3 Appear in JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both are compulsory.
Stage 4 Results will be announced; a Common Rank List (CRL) and category-wise ranks will be released.
Stage 5 Participate in JoSAA Counselling for seat allocation in IITs.
