RRB Group D Syllabus & Previous Year Question Papers 2022: A Complete Guide

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Group D exam to recruit candidates for various posts in the Indian Railways. The 2022 examination saw a significant number of applicants, and understanding the syllabus and analyzing previous year question papers are crucial for effective preparation.

The RRB Group D exam is a gateway to various Level-1 posts in the Indian Railways, such as:

  • Track Maintainer Grade-IV

📝 Selection Process

The selection process for RRB Group D consists of three stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

The CBT is the first stage and comprises:

  • Duration: 90 minutes

  • Marking Scheme:

    • Correct Answer: +1 mark

    • Incorrect Answer: -0.25 marks (negative marking)

    • Unanswered Questions: 0 marks

The questions are divided into four sections:

📚 Detailed Syllabus

1. General Science

This section assesses the candidate's knowledge in:

  • Physics: Laws of motion, work and energy, light, sound, electricity, magnetism.

  • Chemistry: Elements and compounds, acids, bases, salts, chemical reactions.

  • Biology: Human body, plants, animals, diseases, environment.

Note: The questions are based on NCERT Class 10 level.

2. Mathematics

This section evaluates:

  • Arithmetic: Number systems, fractions, percentages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest.

  • Algebra: Linear equations, polynomials, quadratic equations.

  • Geometry: Lines, angles, triangles, circles, areas, volumes.

  • Mensuration: Surface areas and volumes of 2D and 3D shapes.

  • Data Interpretation: Bar graphs, pie charts, tables.

Note: The questions are based on NCERT Class 10 level.

3. General Intelligence and Reasoning

This section tests:

  • Logical Reasoning: Analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations.

  • Verbal Reasoning: Direction sense, syllogism, statement-conclusion.

  • Non-Verbal Reasoning: Mirror images, embedded figures, pattern completion.

4. General Awareness and Current Affairs

This section covers:

  • Current Affairs: National and international events, sports, awards, appointments.

  • General Knowledge: Indian history, geography, polity, economy, culture.

    • Running: 1,600 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

    • Weight Lifting: Lifting and carrying 35 kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes.

  • Female Candidates:

    • Running: 1,000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

    • Weight Lifting: Lifting and carrying 20 kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes.

Note: The PET is qualifying in nature.


📄 Document Verification and Medical Examination

Candidates who clear the PET are called for Document Verification, where they must produce original documents for verification. Post verification, candidates undergo a Medical Examination to ensure they meet the medical standards set by the Indian Railways.
